BESS

Energy storage

Volta Polska is building its first standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) in Poland, with commissioning scheduled for early 2027. We aim to bring more than 250 MW of storage capacity into operation over the next three years, spanning both front-of-the-meter (standalone) and behind-the-meter (on-site) projects.

Stable, cost-effective
green energy

Storage is a core component of our energy approach, ensuring that the renewable energy we deliver remains reliable, flexible and financially efficient over time.

Combined with CPPA and Solar as a Service, this solution is part of Volta’s integrated approach to delivering tailored energy solutions, from structuring and development to operation, in partnership with leading players across the value chain.

Why now?

Why Storage Matters

As renewable capacity continues to grow in Poland, the power system is increasingly exposed to periods of excess generation. At times of strong solar production, electricity supply can significantly exceed demand, causing market prices to fall dramatically and, on occasion, turn negative. Storage is becoming a critical tool to capture this surplus energy and restore flexibility to the grid.

Solar oversupply: the more panels are installed, the less the electricity produced at midday is worth. The energy is produced at the wrong time.

What We Do

Building Long-Term
Energy Assets

Volta Polska develops, finances and operates renewable energy assets and battery energy storage systems. Through long-term power purchase agreements, on-site energy infrastructure and utility-scale storage projects, we create value from energy assets across different market segments.

Why Partner With Us?

Where stability meets agility

Volta is no newcomer to storage. With nearly ten years of experience in the sector and a strong presence in the Polish market, our strength lies in mastering the entire value chain — an expertise already well established in solar.

Experience

BESS

Battery Storage Experience

The Volta Group has been developing battery storage projects since 2018. Our experience includes utility-scale projects in Corsica and Mayotte, where storage is essential for integrating renewable generation and maintaining system stability. This operational experience continues to shape our approach to battery storage development in both France and Poland.

Financial Strength

Volta Polska is backed by shareholders with a long-term commitment to energy infrastructure and the energy transition. Together with Volta Group’s track record of securing funding for project development and growth, this provides the financial capacity required to invest in new assets and support long-term partnerships.

Entrepreneurial Approach

As part of an international energy group, we combine access to capital and technical expertise with a hands-on way of working. Our partners work directly with decision-makers who remain actively involved in projects, helping to accelerate decision-making and maintain a collaborative approach throughout the project lifecycle.

Long-Term Alignment

As an independent power producer, we develop, finance, own and operate the assets behind our projects. Our involvement extends beyond construction and commissioning to the long-term operation and performance of each asset, aligning our interests with the long-term success of every project.

The project under way

Your storage project

From concept to deployment across different energy models

Battery energy storage can be structured in several ways depending on your energy profile, existing supply arrangements and commercial objectives. It may be integrated with renewable generation under a cPPA, deployed on-site as part of an energy infrastructure solution, or operated as a standalone asset participating directly in power markets.

1.

Consultation

A 30-minute conversation to understand your energy consumption, contractual structure and objectives, and to identify how storage could fit into your overall energy strategy.

2.

Study and structuring

Technical and economic assessment of potential configurations, including co-located storage with renewable generation, on-site battery systems or standalone grid-connected assets. The analysis focuses on value drivers such as price volatility, consumption patterns and system constraints.

3.

Deployment and operation

Depending on the chosen structure, Volta finances, builds and operates the storage asset or integrates it into an existing supply framework. Our teams manage construction, commissioning and ongoing technical and commercial operation.
